…
Chase Stokes, the talented actor who plays the charismatic John B. on Netflix’s Outer Banks, recently had a terrible day on set while filming the show’s third season.
The unfortunate series of incidents that almost drove Stokes to the verge of insanity were described by Stokes in a recent interview with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show.
Stokes disclosed that the incident happened while a particularly difficult stunt was being filmed for the third season’s concluding episode. He paused, leaning against a tree, and at once his arm began to burn. “I looked down, and there was a trail of ants going up my arm,” he recalled. “And I was like, ‘This is not happening right now.'”
Unfortunately, that was just the beginning of a disastrous day for Stokes. As he continued filming the stunt, he accidentally hit his head on a tree branch, causing a laceration above his eye. “I just remember looking up and seeing blood running down my face,” he said.
Stokes’ subsequent mishap involved a wardrobe malfunction as if that weren’t bad enough. He had a pair of cargo shorts on during another scene, but they were so baggy that they kept falling down, showing the entire cast and crew his underwear. “I was like, ‘Guys, I’m so sorry,'” he said, laughing at the memory.
But Stokes’ harrowing day didn’t end there. Later, while filming a scene in which he jumps out of his boat, he accidentally lands on a sharp rock and injures his leg. “I was like, ‘This is the worst day of my life,'” he said.

Unfortunate Experiences
During a latest appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Stokes recounted how he had a truly harrowing day on set that began with a painful encounter with poison tree sap and ended with a bird crashing into the back of his head.
Stokes explained that while filming a challenging stunt scene for the season’s final episode, he had to take a break and leaned against a tree to catch his breath. It was at this point that he unknowingly touched poison tree sap, which quickly began to burn and irritate his skin.
Fortunately, one of the Bajan crew members recognized the issue and quickly took Stokes to a van where they applied ointments to help combat the poison.
After recovering from the poison sap, Stokes began to feel better, but his ordeal was far from over. As he was speaking to his director, he suddenly felt something hit him in the back of his head.
He turned around to see that it was a bird that had flown straight into him, causing him to jerk forward. “It was a full-on, like, [mimics being hit] jerked my body forward. And I was like, ‘What was that?’ And he goes, ‘Bird. That was a bird. A bird just flew into the back of your head.'”
Despite all the setbacks, Stokes soldiered on and finished filming the episode. Looking back, he can now laugh at the absurdity of the situation. “It was one of those days where it’s like, ‘If it’s gonna happen, it’s gonna happen,'” he said. “But it’s a funny story to tell now.”
